In Italy there are prestigious fashion and design academies which are attended by students coming from every corner of the world, who chose to build their future with fashion and creativity.
The Italian Language Schools for foreigners Leonardo da Vinci located in Florence and Milan, decided to create some new courses to help all those guys whose desire is to attend a fashion and design academy in Italy like NABA, Domus Academy, Istituto Marangoni, Polimoda, Scuola Politecnico di Design, Fashion School Carlo Secoli, UptoDate Fashion Academy, Istituto Europeo di Design, etc.
The “Preparatory Course for Fashion and Design Academies” can have a duration which varies between 2 and 24 weeks, and its main goal is to prepare students for the entrance test of the Academy they have chosen, by helping them to hone and improve their skills thanks to the attention and the support of a qualified and experienced teaching staff.
During this course, the guys will learn and improve their knowledge of Italian language, in particular they will focus on the study of fashion and design terminology. In fact the course is open also to students who have a low-level Italian language knowledge, and students will have the opportunity to establish their starting level and the resulting course duration with a self-evaluation test to determine their Italian knowledge.
In the end of the course, students will obtain all the necessary instruments to face the entrance test of the academies with satisfying results.
The first session of the “Preparatory Courses for Fashion and Design Academies” will start on 9th February 2009, in our schools of Milan and Florence.

Fashion is a very wide concept. Everybody knows that the haute couture is an enormous industry, the depository of fantasy and ideas. It is like a big anthill in which every labourer has her/is individual task to perform in order to put the designer’s creative ideas into practice. Traditionally, all this havoc ends up in the spotlight of a podium, the length of which is gracefully walked up and down by an array of selected models. At the end of the fashion show we applaud the designer who, more than anyone else, belongs to the circle of the selected few. Not everyone can join in, although the selection process is not always based on talent. This flashy glamorous world is accessible to a certain category of women. Not belonging to this category does not necessarily mean that we cannot and should not be elegant, charming and stylish!
Fashion, just like nature, cynically changes – one style takes over another and trends that have not caught up, sink into oblivion. People of fashion claim that fashion just like history, repeats itself. However, every time it does repeat itself, it brings along something new. This is the world in which we all not only wish, but also have to find our own place. Therefore, fashion gives us a choice and we make our pick.
Those who used to make clothes for dolls when they were little girls will quickly find their way in the labyrinths of fashion as they know what being creative about what we wear is. It is important to use high quality, natural materials. If that is beyond our price range, we can still look for quality clothes made of linen, silk and mohair. This is how you’ll develop a dressing culture of your own. An original piece of clothing together with a stylish handbag and quality shoes will suit you well no matter your height, weight and age. The key is to make sure that your clothes are comfortable and reflect your personality, which proves once again that a good item will make anyone look good.

Animal prints were a major fashion trend in Fall 2006. Leopard spots were most noticeable, similar to the spots you can find on a big cat. The jewelry hot fashion was Faux tortoise, faceted wood beads, animal print beads, and similar tone beads. The earth tone colors include shades of brown, rust, olive, with black and gray accents. Imagine surfing in the wild in Africa, the fashion was pretty exciting, but I do hope and pray designers and factories are using faux fur instead of furs of real animals!
In the end of the year, the fashion went towards baroque, English royalty was the inspiration for this ornate trend, bold accessories such as brooches, cocktail rings, layered necklaces, medallion motifs, jabots and chunky belts complement the baroque style dresses.The colors were truly jewelry tones: emerald, ruby, topaz, deep amethyst and blue. These are very rich colors; you can really imagine King Henry VIII and his many wives wearing this kind of clothes and jewelry in the palace.
The fashion was strongly influence by the French Empire, the love story between Napoleon and Josephine in late 18 century which inspired this feminine, romantic trends. To match the romantic style dress, the jewelry comes with lace and metal combinations, laser cut lace patterns on metals, hand painted chunky charms, bird motifs, porcelain flowers, faceted glass beads on velvets. The colors that whispers romance is a range of milky pale tones like misty blue, lilac, rose and buttercup. Wow, I can’t wait to see that, it would make any woman feel like a princess!
