My Boyfriend and I are looking into planning a wedding. He is in a wheel chair and I am 6′0 tall. I don’t know what kind of wedding we can have. I love to dance and he hates it but he promises to dance with me at our wedding. But I don’t know what type of theme or activities would be best that is not centered around dancing. We like to laugh a lot and have fun, It doesn’t need to be traditional… We don’t have a lot of money for it but most of the decorating, food and location I can take care of. Any ideas?

It is not at all unusual for one of the married couple to love to dance and the other hate it. The bride usually only gets to dance with her new husband once – the rest of the time she has her theoretical last dance with all the other men at the reception. The bride and groom don’t stay til the end either – so your guests can still dance the night away.

Just because people are dancing at your wedding is not a reason for you to dance. Dance if you want but there’s no law. You are the one asking for it. Not him.
As the bride you will have a list of people wanting to dance with you too. So you will get to dance plenty. Do it his way one time.
Then plant him in a good soft chair and keep his hand full. Leave early.
If you like to laugh and have fun together why are you making him do something that probably embarrasses him? I don’t get that at all.

I think it will be great if he has the first dance with you, but then let the guests dance. I don’t really think anything needs to be different. It’s a celebration and you don’t want your guests to just sit there. You could try to hire a unique entertainment act.
